What is electrification

Electrification (also known as de-gassification) refers to changing from gas to electricity for heating and cooking.

Examples include:

  • Upgrading from a centralised (or individual) gas boiler hot water systems to electric heat pump hot water systems.

  • Upgrading from a gas boiler pool heater to an electric heat pump pool heater .

  • Using reverse cycle air-conditioning for space heating in apartments and common areas.

  • Replacing gas ovens and electric ovens and electric or induction cooktops.

    It is also important to consider EV charging. EV charging can represent the biggest increase in electricity load, and bigest change to your electrical infrastructure. EV charging should be considered along with other areas of electrification.
